The PBA is pleased to announce that the 2016 Convention will take place in Drumheller, Alberta at the Canalta Jurassic Hotel & Cretaceous Conference Centre.

The sessions at this years’ convention will focus on leadership for your clients and staff, IT hackers, succession planning and marketing. We have a number of accomplished speakers who are excited to speak to our members.

Meet Our Presenters

Iain Kenny, KPMG

Iain is a Partner in the Forensic Technology Services group of KPMG. Working with an experienced team of professionals across the country from our labs in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver he provides forensic technology, cyber incident and fraud investigation services to clients in Western Canada.

Iain has over 21 years’ experience and was a former Detective with the Edmonton Police Service Technological Crimes Unit. Iain is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Certified Computer Examiner, Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist.

Katrina Edgerton, Scott Venturo LLP

Katrina Edgerton-McCutchan received her Bachelor of Arts in Human and Social Development from the University of Victoria in 2005 and her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Victoria in 2008. Katrina summered, articled, and practiced as an associate at a civil litigation boutique firm. She joined Scott Venturo LLP in 2010 as a litigation associate.

Katrina’s practice has consisted of general litigation in various areas in all levels of courts in Alberta and has appeared in front of the Alberta Securities Commission. She has experience in oil and gas, commercial, professional negligence, insurance defence, sports, and intellectual property litigation.

Dan Horner, Scott Venturo LLP

Daniel (Dan) Horner obtained his law degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1992. Upon graduation, he articled with a prominent firm in Calgary, completing his articles and remained an associate there until 1996 after which he joined Scott Venturo LLP. Dan became a partner in 2000.

He has a sound corporate business sense. His corporate practice involves negotiating, structuring and financing complicated corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions in a wide variety of industries. He provides excellent strategic business planning advice to his clients and ensures his clients’ corporate governance requirements are met. His primary areas of practice include commercial, transactional, corporate finance, commercial and residential real estate, exempt market/private equity investment and energy law.

Annaliisa Sando, Scott Venturo LLP

Annaliisa obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology (Honours) from the University of Calgary and her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta. She was called to the Alberta Bar in 2011. Annaliisa articled with a prominent law firm in Calgary, where she continued working as an associate prior to joining Scott Venturo LLP in May of 2015.

Annaliisa has represented individual and corporate clients engaged in diverse industries with all manner of general corporate and commercial matters, with a focus on corporate organization and restructuring, and share and asset acquisitions and dispositions.

Suzanne Ebelher, Mission Ignite

Suzanne Ebelher, CMC, CHRP, MBA, is the Principal and Managing Director of Mission Ignite Consulting. Suzanne has over 15 years of experience assisting clients on a variety of consulting topics such as business process improvement, strategic planning, change management, business planning, focus group facilitation, project management, compensation reviews, HR policy and organizational effectiveness and customized training programs. She has worked closely with various stakeholder groups facilitating community engagement discussions.

Suzanne works collaboratively with her clients to help facilitate decision making and business improvements by providing the necessary support documentation, policies, processes, tools and plans in order to achieve their desired goals and vision of success.

Corey Poirier

Corey Poirier is an award winning Keynote speaker (having presented to over 150,000 attendees and shared the bill with Deepak Chopra, Stephen MR Covey, and General Rick Hillier) and host of the top rated Conversations With PASSION Radio Show which features the likes of Jack Canfield, John Gray, Rick Hansen, Olympic Gold Medalist Silken Laumann, Turbo Jam Creator Chalene Johnson and hundreds more.

Brian de Vries, Avendo Capital

Brian de Vries of Avendo Capital Inc. helps the lower-mid market/SME sector with business loans and leasing, business sales and acquisition, business plan writing, and business and financial consulting. He achieved his undergraduate degree from the University of Lethbridge in 1994.

Living in Chestermere with his wife of 7 years, they have two young children. He has over 15 years of experience as a business and franchise owner. When he is not changing a diaper, he enjoys the outdoors, reading, options trading, and has climbed mountains on five continents.

Tara-Lee Gorelitz, Nex Level Challenge

Tara-Lee is a Certified Emergenetics Associate, Level 2 Challenge Course Practitioner and Bachelor of Commerce graduate. She is a member of the Leadership Team with BNI Integrity, the Regional Team with BNI Alberta South, a member of the Women’s Executive Network and an alumnae member of Alpha Omicron Pi.

Born and raised east of Calgary, Tara-Lee currently lives in Langdon, Alberta with her husband Troy, their two children and their lovable shepherd. She has completed two half-marathons for charity and looks forward to completing a full marathon some day!

Trina Lo, Chief Marketing Officer FreshInk Communications

Trina Lo grew up as very shy and introverted child. Most don’t believe that today as she is considered a power net-worker, has provided numerous public talks and teaches for groups of business professionals on a regular basis. After her career in magazine publishing, she carved her own space with FreshInk Communications. Serving the business community with marketing strategies, graphic design, social media management and other web services for over 16 years now, she has been expanding into more public speaking and is working on her book Naked Networking.

With Social Media combining her two loves, graphics and writing, she simply had to learn everything there was to know. However, being an early adopter, there wasn’t anyone to teach. So she learned everything there was to learn and has been teaching Social Media workshops of her own for about 5 years.

Dr. Dele Ajele, Creating Referrals For Life®

Dr. Dele Ajele holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Dalhousie University Halifax, NS. A professional engineer for over 15 years, Dr. Ajele’s practical experience access, various industries and regions of Canada affording him the insight and regions of Canada attending him the insight and skill for connecting with professionals.

Since 2011, Dr. Ajele has spent hundreds of hours training on referral marketing expertise. Dr. Ajele hosts a monthly seminar “Back Your Business” that equips business owners to network effectively.
